About Us

Alta-Dutch Flat School District  is a shining example of the power of students, educators, parents, and a community working together toward a common goal – to actively support each student in achieving his or her personal best.  Perhaps the most gratifying aspect of our school has been the dedication and commitment of our staff.  They inspire our students to embrace learning and they inspire parents and members of the community to an outstanding level of participation.  All students and staff are expected to work to the best of their potential and strive for academic excellence.  The entire school community is dedicated to enhancing the self-esteem of students, promoting within students a sense of responsibility for their own actions and encouraging students to make sound judgments in their daily lives and for the future.

Nestled in pines and cedars, Alta-Dutch Flat School District is located in rural Placer County thirty miles east of Auburn on I-80.  The surrounding foothills offer an abundance of recreational activities and one of the most pleasant climates in the country.  Composed of one beautiful school which serve students from transitional kindergarten to 8th grade, some of whom are inter-district transfers from neighboring districts.  Classrooms surround a central courtyard, with access to a library, science lab, computer lat, gym/cafeteria, track and large playground.  Highly-qualified teachers led the instruction within each classroom, and because of the unique dynamics of the small school environment, even the administration will serve as teaching staff and push in to the classroom in a variety of ways, from observation to small group instruction.

The Board has adopted rigorous standards for all grade levels, coupled with the commitment to fully implement California Common Core State Standards and 21st Century Skills.  Our students score well on state tests, raising API scores to one of the highest in the area in the past three years.  Students also demonstrate solid academic performance upon their transfer to high school, frequently involved in multiple extra-curricular activities.  Staff is selected not only for their outstanding academic qualifications, but also for their ability to collaborate as a team in delivering our standards based curriculum.  All teachers are fully credentialed and meet all criteria for “highly qualified” certification.  Our district supports the staff in ongoing professional development.  All classrooms are equipped with computers, Internet access, and Smart Boards and every student spends thirty minutes a day in the computer lab.  This allows us to expand the resources available to staff and to enable students to develop vital technological skills.  In addition to utilizing technology in the education process, our approach goes many steps further through programs such as interactive multi-media projects where students develop an understanding of technology and its impacts.  Then application is made to what students have learned, including hands-on activities using tools, materials, and equipment to solve real-world problems.

Our district mission is “in partnership with families and community, we will build a district of lifelong learners who can succeed in a dynamic and diverse world.”  Our unique environment, committed staff, and parent involvement are all keys to us accomplishing this task.
